Department store Breda

For the leading architectural studios Sadovsky & Architects and GUTGUT, we completely covered the energy concept and analysis of the internal environment as part of the competition proposal for the renovation and completion of the iconic Breda Department Store in Opava. Our goal was to transform the architectural vision into a technologically sustainable and highly energy-efficient solution. Using advanced simulation software, we analyzed in detail the impact of solar gains, shading from the surrounding buildings, and the behavior of historical and new structures - including the unique dome and shed skylights. For the project, we designed an energy concept using renewable energy sources and passive systems for protection against summer overheating. We showed that advanced energy concepts can work perfectly in symbiosis with historical architecture.
